California Property Tools

California Property Tax Datasets

Everything on this site is built from public records: county assessor rolls and tax rate books, the State Board of Equalization's statistical tables, CDIAC's Mello-Roos reports, CAL FIRE's hazard maps, HCD's housing reports, DWR's well records and the Department of Insurance's filings. The aggregates we compute from them are published here as files, one row per city, county, ZIP, district or form, so that reporters, researchers, agents and agencies can use the numbers rather than retype them. Aggregates only: no parcel, owner or address data leaves the source.

Reuse and citation

The data files below are released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0: use them in articles, reports, maps and tools, including commercial ones; a credit to “California Property Tools” and a link to the dataset's page is all we ask. Quote the pages themselves (text, tables, calculators) the same way. Every page carries a “Cite this page” box with a ready citation, and every figure names its primary source so you can cite the county or state agency alongside us. Corrections: contact; method and change log: methodology.
